Last year, Punky was filled with sadness because some of her good friends were graduating and heading off to kindergarten. There was no sadness this year, though. Punky was just plain excited for the next step- kindergarten!
A friend of mine said it well when she told me that sometimes these transitions are harder on the parents than on the kids. I am going to miss the preschool teachers and Punky's DHH teacher who she's had since she was 14 months and won't continue on with us through the school age years. I'm going to miss preschool drop-off and pick-up and most importantly I am going to miss Punky while she is at school all day long.
Unfortunately, I had to work on Punky's last day of preschool. Luckily, Derek took the morning off and was able to attend the end of the year program. In years past, the kids always sang songs. This year, the teachers showed a photo montage DVD that they had prepared. Punky won an award for "great confidence and loves to share." Punky thought she was good at sharing toys with her friends, but I am pretty sure the teachers meant she doesn't stop talking during circle time. :)
My favorite artwork this year: dinosaur, skunk, monster, lighting bug, worm tracks, "My dandelion wish is for a giant chocolate donut" |
Preschool has been a great experience for Punky and I feel so fortunate that she was able to attend such a great school. I know she is excited and ready for the next step. Hopefully after the summer, we get there too!
