Pedal Faster

Finally we had some warm weather- 60 degrees! I hear it won't last long, but we did all we could today to enjoy it. We pulled in the driveway after a birthday party today, and our neighbors were playing outside. We didn't even go in to set our bags down. It wasn't a few minutes later, Punky was asking to try out riding her big girl bike without training wheels. Derek ran behind her a few times, then I did for a bit. And then we let go... And she pedaled... And off she went.

She kept going and kept going for a few hours today. After some practice, she learned how to make turns and how to get herself going without our help. She still has not figured out how to stop fast or how to avoid people (Buddy got the short end of that stick a few times). She was so good at encouraging her friend who learned to ride last summer but was a little scared this year. "Just believe in yourself" "I know you can do it" Thanks, Frozen.

And just so I don't leave Buddy out, here's what he was up to.

Holy Guacamole

Punky's church school class sang a song during church this week.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning, our song shall rise to thee
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed trinity

I still get teary-eyed watching her perform in front of all those people. I wonder when that'll end?

Punky had been practicing a lot lately and her little brother didn't want to be left out. His version went:

Holy, holy, holy, guaaacamoleeee!

Dentist

On Saturday, the kids visited the dentist. This was Buddy's first time. He did a great job! He answered their questions, opened his mouth wide and followed instructions so well. Both kids had no cavities!

Cuddler

For the past 6 months or so, we have had a little boy sleeping in our bed. Buddy dishes out the typical bed time stall tactics- I have to go potty, I'm thirsty, I'm scared, etc. Usually after 3 or 4 times of coming downstairs, and us threatening to take away Minion Rush or Dino Dan or whatever he is into that week, he'll fall asleep by himself in his own bed. But at some point in the middle of the night, he ends up in our bed. Sometimes he says he's scared, sometimes he's cold, and sometimes we don't even know how or when he got in between us.

At this point, I feel like he might just be needing those extra cuddles. I am in no rush to force him to sleep all night in his own bed. I highly doubt he'll be sleeping in our bed in 3rd grade. So for now, we'll savor those extra cuddles. Even if we are squished and have no covers.
