Since Daddy has been working out of town for the past few weeks, Grandma decided to come for a few days to help out and relieve Auntie Amber from babysitting duties. She stayed an extra day so we could have a little fun too!
Punky had preschool in the morning and she was so excited because she was the Special Helper for the day! Grandma ran errands with Buddy and I while we waited for preschool to be finished. We grabbed coffee and went to the Pet Store (Buddy's choice- blog post to follow!) and a few more stores for Grandma and I.
Once Punky was done with school, we headed to the Mall of America for some fun! Our first stop there was lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. We were seated next to a huge aquarium. Buddy had fun looking at Nemo and Dori, but they were most excited to walk around the restaurant and find different animals.
We figured Buddy would have a great time at the restaurant since he loves animals so much. He did have fun, but he was also so scared! He would not go near the crocodile at the entrance. He cowered in my shoulder and said "crocodile bite me!"
He was terrified of the lightning and thunder. I thought it was the cutest thing ever. (Does that make me a bad mom?)
He really enjoyed the animals that were far away and did not move. As we were leaving the restaurant, another section was being serenaded by a group of gorillas. Punky wanted to watch the show, but Buddy hid behind me and said "I don't like those monkeys."
Grandma and I were able to get a little shopping in before Punky and Buddy got antsy for the amusement park. Punky and Buddy went on the carousel with us first. Punky chose a zebra and Buddy chose a giraffe, but then had to change to a horse.
After jumping in the Sponge Bob bounce house, they chose the Wonder Pets Flyboat. Punky had been on that ride before, and this time Buddy was tall enough to ride on it (if he stood up real straight). Grandma and I thought he would be scared, but we thought we'd give it a try anyway. Buddy loved it!
We rode on one more roller coaster and headed to the American Girl Store. Both kids could have spent another hour there playing with the dolls (and horses). We were all getting tired, so we called it a day. We had a fun day and we are so glad Grandma was able to make the drive here to spend some time with us! Thanks Grandma!
