It was a little harder to come up with Punky's favorite book list this week. Unlike Buddy, Punky likes to choose a new book every night. She doesn't often get stuck on the same book and want to hear it over and over again. However, she does like certain characters and enjoys reading each book in that character's series.
Bunny Cakes- Max and Ruby books are one of Punky's favorites. They are always cute stories and are a good length for preschoolers. Ruby is a bit of a know-it-all and her little brother Max is a little mischievous. Punky really likes their TV shows too.
Clifford- Clifford is another series favorite. And it is also our little routine to watch the Clifford TV show on PBS while we eat lunch.
Pinkalicious- This was one of the first books that Punky completed memorized. At her 3rd birthday party, she recited the entire book to our family and every one was in awe! It is still one of Punky's favorites and now she's gotten into Purplicious and Goldilicious. There is even a musical, so we checked the CD out from the library and having been singing the cheesy show tunes ever since!
Curious George- "George the Monkey" was one of my favorites as a kid too. Punky especially likes the story, Curious George Visits the Library. I guess there is a trend here, but Punky loves to watch the Curious George TV show in the mornings too.
Mother Goose- Punky has a few different Mother Goose books and loves them all. Since they are usually super long books with lots of rhymes, we typically pick 10 or 12 for her bedtime story. I especially like the Little Golden Book version because of the illustrations. "What are little boys made of?" has tiny drawings of chopped-off puppy tails. It is so gross to be in a children's book, I think it's funny!
Olivia- Olivia is a spunky little pig, just like Punky! Punky's 3rd birthday party had an Olivia theme. She loves all the Olivia books, and of course, the TV show!
High Five- Technically it is a not a book, but the High Five Magazine is one of Punky's favorite things to read. Grandma Trudi and Grandpa Scott gave Punky a subscription to the preschool version of Highlights for Christmas. It has been a big hit! Each time we check the mail, she asks if there is a new "kid's magazine". Punky's favorite part of the magazine is the "That's Silly!" section where you find silly things in a picture scene. She also likes the Hidden Pictures page and the activity at the end of the magazine which usually involves some sort of game and cutting.
